Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced that another fleet of 100 state-of-the-art electric buses is set to depart from China tonight for Pakistan.

In a statement shared on social media, the Chief Minister said the new fleet will serve previously neglected districts of Punjab, including Mianwali, Okara, Nankana Sahib, Muzaffargarh, Vehari, Pakpattan, and Dera Ghazi Khan — areas long deprived of formal public transportation.

“These fully air-conditioned buses will feature modern amenities such as Wi-Fi, an automated ticketing system, and full accessibility for people with disabilities,” she stated. “The fare has been fixed at just Rs. 20 to ensure affordability for all.”

Maryam Nawaz added that the initiative is not only a step towards sustainable, eco-friendly transport but also a move to bridge the urban-rural infrastructure gap by bringing modern travel options to underserved regions.
